What is the Role of Cartoons in the Development of Children?
It is a scientifically proven fact that children both have fun and learn while watching cartoons. The effect of cartoons on child development has become one of the most popular research topics in recent years. Experts who have studied this subject in depth have proven that the effect of cartoons on development is much more than is thought. When the importance of the researches was understood by both world governments and production companies, more conscious cartoons began to emerge. Thus, behaviors that could set a bad example for children were quickly removed from cartoons, and cartoons were made more educational.
It is important to watch the child during and after the cartoon.
Even now, cartoons contain many imaginary elements and unrealistic situations. This is a clear indication that children are still at risk. The fact that children pay attention to cartoon elephants is a situation that is noticed by everyone, but is often underestimated. However, the situation is not as simple as it seems. In this process, the brain records what it sees without being bound by any filter. When examined carefully, it is often seen that children exhibit the same movements or similar ones after the distraction or the end of the cartoon. Although the harmful aspects of cartoons have been reduced, it is still possible to come across entities that cannot actually exist in my cartoons. Children may act as if the unreal beings they watch in cartoons exist in normal life, or they may engage in movements that are impossible to fly. It is important for parents to follow the child closely during and after the cartoon, as such situations may cause the child to be harmed mentally and physically.
Which Cartoons Should Be Preferred?
With the understanding of the effect of cartoons on children, the anxiety of parents has increased significantly. First of all, it should be noted that banning cartoons for children is definitely not a solution. In fact, cartoons can be extremely effective when used for educational purposes. Parents should prefer educational cartoons and, if necessary, create their own lists independent of the TV broadcast stream. In this way, the child can be taught useful habits such as brushing teeth and collecting toys. Children who acquire useful habits at a young age largely continue these habits in later life.
